- We recently upgraded the student orientation from 2 hours to 3 days, including a focus on transitioning into higher education.
- The student experience team have 2 new members meaning there will be more of us to support students and keep you updated.

- We have an ongoing library acquisition task that includes improving and increasing our online and on-campus books for students and staff.

Ikon is participating in the 2021 Student Experience Survey (SES). The SES is a national survey being conducted for the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment.
The results of this survey will help the higher education sector and the government improve students’ course experience and enhance teaching and learning in Australian higher education institutions to improve outcomes for students.
Your feedback is very important and will contribute directly to the experience of current and future students.
The SES is administered by the Social Research Centre, and you will receive an invitation to participate. We encourage you to participate in this important survey, although your involvement is voluntary. All responses are confidential and aggregated for reporting purposes.
By completing the survey, you will be entered into a weekly prize draw for the chance to win a $1,000 prepaid VISA e-gift card.
Watch your email inbox during late September for an invitation to complete the SES. Only current first-year students who commenced in 21T1 and continuing students in their final year will receive this survey.
More information about the SES can be found here.

Opportunities that digital technology potentially creates for art therapy reach beyond increased access to include new possibilities of adaptation and extension of therapy toolbox. Given growing interest in practice and research in this area, it is important to investigate how art therapists engage with digital technology or how (and whether) practice might be safely adapted to include new potential modes of delivery and new arts media.

Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Mate gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviors, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms and judging, but seeking instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviors and diseases spring in the wounded human soul.

Inspirational Ideas and Advice
Begin it now
The fastest way to get something done is to get in done. When there are things, you need to do that feel difficult or challenging, don’t give into the urge to put them off. Instead, make a start and relax, confident in the knowledge that you are already halfway there.
“He who has begun his task has half done it”
Horace
Do the things you love
There is a big difference between doing what you’re good at and doing what you love. The sweet spot is when you get to do both.
Ask yourself, “What do I love doing” and then make sure you find some time to do this. It doesn’t have to be all day, every day, even spending just one hour doing something you are passionate about will refresh, energise and invigorate your life.
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs.
Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do that.
Because what the world needs is people who are come alive”.
Harold Thurman

We are so excited to see your friends!
