Australia needs early childhood teachers (ECTs) in the very near future, we’ve taken a look at the research, and it’s very clear. According to research by Future Tracks, Australia currently has a significant shortage of ECTs, and without intervention, will fail to meet future workforce requirements. This is concerning considering the impact and importance that understanding and enhancing children’s learning has on our society and future.

DID YOU KNOW?
Australia will need to have around 29 000 additional early childhood teachers by 2023. That’s not too far away! What’s even more concerning is that only 12% of the current early childhood education workforce are qualified to be a teacher, with the vast majority carrying a diploma or certificate-level qualification, meaning they are only eligible to be early childhood educators.
